After three sold-out shows in two days, performers from The New Shanghai Circus enjoy a quick meal backstage before packing up and heading out…

On Wednesday, The New Shanghai Circus performed in Santa Rosa before approximately 2,700 students and teachers through the Center’s Education Through the Arts program.  The students learned about the ancient Chinese culture  and experienced first-hand the thrill of the Chinese circus arts, a tradition that dates back more than 2,000 years.  In addition to the performance, students also participated in pre-show projects designed to enhance their field trip to the theater. All of the Center’s school shows align with California Content Standards and teachers are provided with study guides to help deepen and broaden the students’ educational experience.

The two school performances followed a sold-out evening performance for families on Tuesday. This performance was presented through the Clover Stornetta Family Fun Series.

The talented troupe of Chinese acrobats, contortionists and jugglers is currently on a national tour following their third six-week run on Broadway.  Leaving Santa Rosa on Wednesday, they head next to Southern California and will make one or two night stops all across the country through the end of April.
