Music For Schools Program is the only instrument lending library in the North Bayand one of the few in the nation
The Annual Musical Instrument Drive to support Music For Schools Program, May 9 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm
On Saturday, May 9 from 11 am to 3 pm., members of the community are encouraged to bring musical instruments to the annual “Instrument Drive,” to donate to Luther Burbank Center for the Arts’ Music For Schools program, which maintains an “instrument lending library,” to share those with over 300 children in the community who might not otherwise have access to musical instruction. Featured at the event are local children who benefited from this program, performing with local school bands throughout the day.
These generous donations by members of the community contribute to the Center’s innovative Music For Schools program, which currently maintains an extensive collection of more than 400 instruments available for use including wind, brass, percussion, Orff and stringed instruments and educational resources. The Center works directly with schools and instrumental music teachers to place these instruments with students who could not otherwise afford to participate in their school’s band or orchestra program.
