We know that it’s imperative to get kids reading early, so our From Page to Stage Reading Initiative works directly with underserved schools, as defined by A Portrait of Sonoma, to promote literacy and instill a lifelong love of reading early in students’ careers.
LBC visits selected underserved 3rd grade classrooms throughout the school year. We provide reading assistance and support materials to each classroom. Students are given books as part of the program and encouraged to bring the activity of reading home with them. The Reading Initiative is coupled with School Show attendance to bring the books to life. Participants in the Reading Initiative are also provided an opportunity for a Q&A with the cast after the show, followed by a milk and cookies reception.
