Starting the Conversation About Ableism

In-Person at the LBC Education Studio!

Defining ableism: Disabilities take many forms, including visible and invisible ones. The same can be said about discrimination against individuals with disabilities. In this session, we will start the conversation about ableism from the perspective of disabled people. We will learn from the personal journeys of parents and educators confronting their own ableism. Through these conversations, participants will come away with tools to recognize and challenge ableism within their entire school community.

Part of Overcoming Ableism: Shifting from Accommodating to Belonging, a two-part series. Learn more about the second session in the series,  Fostering a Culture of Belonging.
