When Mr. Fish sets out on a quest to find Miss Clam’s missing pearl, he discovers there is more to him than his permanently plastered pout. With live actors and puppets, this colorful adaptation of The New York Times best-seller is sure to turn even the poutiest of frowns upside down.

  • K.RL.9: With prompting and support, compare and contrast the adventures and experiences of characters in familiar stories.
  • 1.RL.2:  Retell stories, including key details, and demonstrate understanding of their central message or lesson.
  • 2.RL.4: Describe how words and phrases (e.g., regular beats, alliteration, rhymes, repeated lines) supply rhythm and meaning in a story, poem, or song.

Lesson Plan Idea

Students will make their own puppets and explore story structure by creating and performing short skits based on an underwater adventure.

Art Talks: Free Guided Tours of the Sculpture Garden

Extend your field trip by touring our Sculpture Garden with a specially trained docent! Our current exhibition, Harmonies: Kati Casida, Catherine Daley, and Jann Nunn, features three highly acclaimed Bay Area sculptors. Join us with a group of up to 100 people for a a walking tour through these unique works. Tours begin 15 minutes after school shows and last approximately 20 minutes.
