School Show: Wings of Courage

Wings of Courage

by Mad River Theatre Works

Grades 3-8

Eugene Bullard’s life story is so incredible, it’s almost impossible to believe it’s actually true! Bullard was a professional boxer, a World War I flying ace, a jazz musician, and even a spy against the Nazis. Originally from Georgia, he joined the French Foreign Legion after being denied a meaningful place in the U.S. Army due to his skin color. He rose through the ranks pf the Legion to fly against the famous “Red Baron.” Despite his success, reactions to Bullard’s race prevented him from taking his place alongside other American heroes. But Bullard’s perseverance led him to overcome discrimination and gain fame while overcoming adversity. Join us as this uplifting musical of vision and hope returns to our stage.

“The students were so energized by this performance!”
