LBC Presents

Buddy Guy

with special guest Ally Venable

Sunday, March 6, 2022 at 8:00PM

$49, $69, and $89

The title of Buddy Guy’s latest album says it all: The Blues Is Alive and Well. The legendary blues artist’s eighteenth solo LP and follow-up to 2015’s Born to Play Guitar showcases his raw and unadulterated sound, its fifteen tracks a true pleasure for aficionados and genre newcomers alike. Buddy Guy is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, a major influence on rock titans like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, a pioneer of Chicago’s fabled West-Side sound, and a living link to the city’s halcyon days of electric blues. Buddy Guy has received seven Grammy® Awards, a Lifetime Achievement Grammy® Award, 37 Blues Music Awards (the most any artist has received), the Billboard Magazine Century Award for distinguished artistic achievement, a Kennedy Center Honor, and the Presidential National Medal of Arts. At 82 years young, Guy proves that it gets greater later as he continues to record and tour around the world.

Special Guest Ally Venable

Still in her early twenties, guitarist Ally Venable has moved as fast as her fingers during her breakneck two decades, her path winding from childhood church choirs to the teenage influence of local heroes like Stevie Ray Vaughan and Miranda Lambert. Her early releases, No Glass Shoes (2016) and Puppet Show (2018), earned international fans, Top 10-chart placings, and ETX Awards. In 2019, she went stratospheric with Texas Honey’s #2 landing on the Billboard Chart and house-rocking sets on her Blues Caravan Tour. Now, with Venable’s fanbase snaking further around the block every time she blows into town, Texas roots icon and Texas Honey Producer Mike Zito is in no doubt: “Ally is the future of blues and the crossover music of American roots-rock.”
