Thank you! We couldn’t do it without you!

From ushering at a performance to working with students through our education and family programs, our 300-plus volunteers provide vital service to the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts and help bring the joy, enrichment, and excitement of the arts to our community. The saying “many hands make light work” rings true every day at LBC. Our volunteers include ushers who seat patrons and attend to their needs at shows and events, docents who give tours of the art collection, aids who help families to make arts and crafts together prior to shows, administrative volunteers who support Center operations and programs, and last but certainly not least, the Center’s volunteer board of directors who provide essential oversight and leadership.

We salute our 300-plus volunteers who provide tens-of-thousands of dollars in donated services annually.

Volunteer Opportunities

Your free time and special skills can make a tremendous difference in helping us to enrich, educate, and entertain our North Bay community. In return, we offer ticket vouchers to selected performances, an annual volunteer appreciation party, and a heartfelt thank you!

Volunteer Usher

The usher program consists of friendly and energetic volunteers who assist at Center events by greeting patrons, checking and taking tickets, passing out programs and escorting patrons to their seats, answering patron questions and providing general assistance, and assisting patrons while exiting the theater after the performance. Our Ushers are expected to provide the utmost in service to our patrons to guarantee a great experience during their visit with us. Ushering requires standing for extended periods of time.

Fun with Art Volunteer

Do you enjoy working with families and love art? If so, this is a great way to share the wonder and joy of the arts with the next generation! Before each of our Family Fun Series performances, you’ll help set up the Fun with Art project and assist families while they make art together.

Administration Volunteers

The Administrative office offers opportunities for assisting staff from various departments with special projects such as preparing mailings, data entry and reception service. Departments include Development, Programming (arts, entertainment and education), Operations, Entertainment, Business Partnerships and Community Rentals, and Finance.

Hospitality Volunteers

Our friendly and welcoming hospitality volunteers greet our patrons and warmly serve concessions at all of our Family Fun Series performances.  In addition they support our concessions during Entertainment performances by selling waters and directing the patrons in our concessions lines.
