LBC expands free Adult Guitar Class to welcome more beginners

Since it was introduced in April 2020, LBC’s adult guitar class has gained enough buzz to grow from a few community members to 25 students. Now that most of them have a year or two under their belts, this month, we started a new beginner class to welcome less experienced players.

At the beginning of the pandemic, thanks to our donors and members, we were able to offer the free online weekly classes and made guitars available for loan to students. In fact, Tracy Sawyer, LBC’s Community Partnerships Supervisor, even filled her car with guitars and drove all over Santa Rosa to make sure each student who needed one had one.

“We are proud of the many students who have advanced their skills,” said Tracy. “We continue to add new students at both levels, and it’s time to make a fresh space for people who are just getting started.”

With separate sessions for English and Spanish-speaking students, spots are available at both levels for the spring sessions, which start January 9. Students meet in person at LBC the first Monday of the month and online on the other Mondays. Classes are still free and guitars are still available for loan, which Tracy will personally hand over at an in-person class.
