SANTA ROSA, CA (November 17, 2021)—Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (LBC) announced that its beloved holiday tradition, the annual Posada Navideña, will remain virtual for one more year. Due to the current California mandate requiring proof of vaccination or negative Covid-19 test result—and limited availability of vaccines for children—the LBC made the difficult decision to change the
December 10 in-person performance of the Rodney Strong Dance Series: Posada Navideña by Calidanza to a virtual presentation.
Available starting Friday, December 10 at 7 p.m., the performance is free to view and will be accessible for 48 hours after its premiere online at lutherburbankcenter.org.
“Now in its 15th year, Posada Navideña is a holiday hallmark of the LBC, bringing joy and the holiday spirit to Sonoma County. By going virtual, families of all ages can celebrate safely and enjoy this free gift to our community,” said Rick Nowlin, President & CEO at Luther Burbank Center for the Arts. “We look forward to channeling the excitement of Christmas in Mexico into homes this year and bringing Calidanza Dance Company back in-person when it is safe to do so.”
This year, Calidanza performs the celebration on the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts’ stage for viewers to enjoy virtually at home. Filmed with the help of the company’s Artistic Director, Steven Valencia, Posada Navideña showcases the beautiful folk culture of Mexico through dance, music, and song. Dancers enchant with vivid costumes and lively choreography, while musicians serenade viewers throughout the show. The presentation also features a special guest performance by LBC’s student ensemble Mariachi Cantares de mi Tierra de LBC.
For families who want to enrich the experience, the Let’s Be Creative! with LBC series will have a guided instructional video and Posada-themed arts & crafts projects. For additional information visit https://lutherburbankcenter.org/lets-be-creative-with-lbc/.
The 15th annual Posada Navideña is sponsored by Rodney Strong with support from LBC’s community partner Los Cien.
