How popular is Judi Webb, volunteer president of the Luther Burbank Memorial Foundation Guild? Though membership by-laws stipulate two-year terms for president, the Guild voted to change those rules so she could lead them for a third year!
Judi moved to Santa Rosa with her husband in 2002, and soon after saw her first show at Luther Burbank Center for the Arts, singer Van Morrison. A friend later invited her to join the Guild, an organization responsible for concession stands at the Center. Her value to the team was quickly apparent, and a few years later she became their president.
On a busy month, the Guild provides beverage services for up to ten events. Judi works carefully with the Center’s event staff to determine how many concession lines are needed at each show. The money earned is donated back to the Center for repairs and upgrades.
Asked what she enjoys about volunteering at the Center, Judi says, “Everybody is so helpful and wonderful to work with. It’s like one big family, and everyone is committed to helping support this great community organization.”
Judi has great enthusiasm about the positive influence the Arts have on the community and how the Center is a powerful contributor. “The Board has such passion to support the Arts. They are so involved with the community and have great programs for the children and adults alike—on top of the great touring artists they bring in. It’s really fulfilling to know you’re helping contribute to that.”
Though Judi was asked to serve a fourth year as president of the Guild, she had to decline, as she is moving to Dallas this summer with her husband to be more centrally located to their family. She looks forward to revisiting her career as an interior designer, but will miss the Center and all of her friends, a sentiment shared by Candice Day, the Center’s Volunteer Manager: “Judi is such a professional in every aspect of her work and most importantly she understands the importance of the Center within the community. She will be missed by all.”
