Celebrate LBC’s 15th Year Honoring Latin American Culture

This year, LBC’s 15th Annual Fiesta de Independencia falls on September 15, just one day before Mexico celebrates its independence back in 1810. Come celebrate with the families, entertainers, and local businesses who share their heritage with the whole community at this beloved festival that not only highlights the beauty and diversity of Latin American cultures in Sonoma County but also strengthens our community bonds.
Sponsored by Redwood Credit Union, Fiesta de Independencia is free and open to the public on Sunday, September 15, from 1:00 – 7:00 pm at the LBC campus in Santa Rosa. Festivities will include live music, traditional dances, arts and crafts, and delicious authentic cuisine.
Headlining the fiesta’s stage performances: the Sonora Santanera orchestra with its reknown Mexican tropical music inspired by the Cuban rhythms of the 1950s and 1960s, and Arpeños, that puts harpists at the fore of its fast-tempo, northern Mexico music. LBC’s own student groups, Mariachi Cantares de mi Tierra and Ballet Folklórico program will perform, while Ballet Folklórico Ireri of Petaluma will spice up the stage. In addition to the main performances, entertainment will feature children’s activities, including carnival games, face painting, a jumpy house, and piñatas. A low rider car show with 1 Firme Car Club will dazzle the north parking lot with automotive works of art in eye-popping candy colors. Students from Roseland University Prep’s MEChA Program will offer cultural exhibits, and the Mexican Consulate of San Francisco will present El Grito.
The LBC is dedicated to fostering cultural understanding and appreciation through events like the Fiesta de Independencia. Admission and parking are free, ensuring that everyone can participate in this joyous occasion. This year’s celebration promises to be the most spectacular yet, as we come together to honor traditions and create new memories.
