LBC and Creative Sonoma to present arts educator of the year award

Deadline for submissions: January 12, 2024 –

LBC and Creative Sonoma have teamed up to present the first Sonoma County Arts Educator of the Year Award, recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement of arts education over an extended period of time. Sponsored by Daniels Chapel of the Roses, the award honors professional arts educators working with the K-12 population – in particular, arts and classroom instructors who teach visual art, music, drama, dance, or multimedia arts.

Anyone can submit a nomination for the award, and self-nominations are accepted. Deadline for nominations is January 12th, 2024. For more information on the award, submission criteria, and nomination process, visit our website.

The award recipient will receive $500 honoraria and a $500 gift card to a local arts store of their choice for classroom supplies. On behalf of the Sonoma County Arts Education Alliance, the winner will provide a voice and advocacy for excellence at up to three local events and/or forums and will be honored at its annual event in the spring of 2024.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Creative Sonoma to highlight exemplary arts educators here in Sonoma County,” said Ashleigh Worley, Director of Education and Community Engagement. “Students involved in arts programs are more likely to make better choices, to attend college, to be engaged with their community – compared to their peers who go without. Through the power of the arts, educators have a special opportunity to make a long-term, lasting impact on the lives of students in their charge.”
