Tour featuring Preservation Hall Jazz Band with Allen Toussaint for a one-night-only joint performance on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 8:00 PM at the Ruth Finley Person Theater (50 Mark West Springs Road, Santa Rosa). Preservation Hall Jazz Band, described by the San Francisco Examiner as “The best jazz band in the land,” unites with iconic New Orleans musician, songwriter and producer Allen Toussaint for a one-of-a-kind jazz experience this November in Santa Rosa. Tickets for The Oh Yeah Tour! are $45, $39, $32 and $25 and are available now online at lutherburbankcenter.org, by calling 707-546-3600, and in person at the box office at 50 Mark West Springs Road in Santa Rosa.
The Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Allen Toussaint will be touring the United States, for the first time together, in a joint tour. The band, based in the legendary French Quarter venue Preservation Hall, has performed around the world and toured with a diverse list of artists, from My Morning Jacket to The Blind Boys of Alabama, but, has never before toured America with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-inducted singer, pianist, songwriter, and producer, Allen Toussaint.
In addition to his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honor, Toussaint has also been inducted into the Song Writers Hall Of Fame and The Blues Hall Of Fame. His mark in the music business is indelible, having produced, performed with, written and arranged for, as well as having his songs covered by, such music giants as The Judds, Paul McCartney, Paul Simon, Elvis Costello, Patti LaBelle, Mac “Dr. John” Rebennack, Aaron and Art Neville, Joe Cocker, The (original) Meters, Glen Campbell, The Band, Little Feat, The Rolling Stones, Devo, Ernie K-Doe, Lee Dorsey, Irma Thomas, Etta James, Ramsey Lewis, Eric Gale and countless others.
“After all these years of playing together in New Orleans and meeting up at the same festivals around the world, it is amazing that we never hit the road as a package before” said Ben Jaffe, Preservation Hall band leader. “It was almost as if we’ve always just assumed it had already happened, and then one day it was like ‘Oh yeah, we need to do this thing’ and the Oh Yeah! Tour was born.”
Unlike many joint tours, where two artists tour together but perform their own shows, the Oh Yeah! Tour will be a combined show, with lots of interaction between the two legends. “I’ve been playing with the guys in Preservation Hall around New Orleans since the 1960’s, so I’m really excited to finally get out on the road and perform together with them every night on a tour,” said Mr. Toussaint, “we’re going to have a lot of fun, and so will the audience.”
Tickets for The Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Allen Toussaint are $45, $39, $32 and $25 and are available online at lutherburbankcenter.org, by calling 707-546-3600, and in person at the box office at 50 Mark West Springs Road in Santa Rosa.
