SANTA ROSA, Calif. (November 21, 2022) — Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (LBC) announced one of Sonoma County’s favorite holiday traditions for the past 16 years, Posada Navideña, returns this holiday season on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 7:00 pm. as a part of its Rodney Strong Dance Series.
An annual sold-out event, Posada Navideña invites audiences of all ages to come experience the folk culture of Mexico and its unique customs and traditions during this popular holiday production and traditional Posada celebration.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children, plus $2 lap passes for children age 2 and under available the day of the show. The program includes free arts and crafts in the lobby starting at 6 pm and a free Posada procession and party immediately following the show. A Sonoma County audience favorite celebrating its 16th year at LBC, this Mexican holiday presentation features traditional Mexican folkloric dances and music performed by the Calidanza Dance Company, which returns live after virtual shows during the pandemic. LBC’s advanced Mariachi Ensemble will open for the Calidanza Dance Company and play at the post-show fiesta. LBC’s Posada celebration is one of the earliest programs proposed and implemented by its Latino Advisory Council.
“With such a large population of families living in Sonoma County who honor their Mexican heritage, we’re proud to have been the gathering place where they can share this tradition with the whole North Bay community for the past 16 years,” said Rick Nowlin, President & CEO.
Recalling the biblical story of the nativity, Posadas Navideñas are the main winter holiday celebrations in the Mexican culture, with local parties and processions taking place all across Mexico.
