Renovation Progress at Your LBC

Elevating Your LBC Experience

November 2018

Yes, the renovation work continues, but we assure you all the promised improvements will be completed soon. And a reminder that the construction you see outside is not repair from fire damage but the exciting elements of Phase Two of our Bridge to the Future renovation project which began in June of 2017.

We hope you have had a chance to check out the new concession areas on the second floor. There will be even more upgrades to that aspect of your visit to LBC. Very soon, there will be built-in concession areas downstairs, which will provide for beer on-tap, more lobby space for patrons, and an overall improved experience pre-show and during intermission.

Another enhancement at The Center for you will be a dedicated Concierge Desk. Conveniently located and easy to find inside, near the North Entrance of the lobby, the Concierge Desk will be your go-to spot. Pick up will call tickets after the box office is closed, sign out and return your Assisted Listening Devices, ask questions and get all the information you need about upcoming shows.  There will even be access to a land line to call a taxi or for an emergency call.

Perhaps the most exciting “coming soon” news is how close we are to opening the doors to the elevators. We hope these will be installed and operational by the time you are enjoying your holiday entertainment later this year—we look forward to this ultimate “elevation” of Your LBC experience!

Stay tuned for these and even more upgrades to what it means to see a show at Your LBC—like when the Marcia & Gary Nelson Family Grand Plaza opens next year and we introduce some new ticket procedures.  Your safety, security and enjoyment continue to be our main priorities as we work to improve Your LBC.

Thank you for your continued patience and support!

Upstairs Concessions

July 2018

The work is done on our new and expanded concession areas for the South Lobby second floor area. This means shorter lines and more options for your pre-show and intermission refreshments. Be sure to check this out the next time you visit The Center.

Have you been to an event in the Fireside Room—or at least peeked in to see that remodeled space and the beautiful new artwork? Paintings by local artist Christopher Evans are featured, and this space is available to rent for meetings and parties. Find rental info here.

June 2018

Look forward to expanded concessions areas on both floors. Pre-show and intermission time will be more enjoyable with two built-in and ADA-compliant concession areas on the ground floor level, along with construction of a new South balcony concession area.

By August, house right balcony will unveil the new set of men’s and women’s restrooms. The new men’s and women’s restrooms on the second floor, house left, are now open!

As we get to fall events and definitely before holiday festivities at the Center we will truly be elevating Your LBC when we open the newly installed elevators, first on the North side and then on the South side! We are very excited to finally be able to have elevators to improve your patron experience here.

You also have likely noticed the work outside the center doors of the lobby on a fence and landscaping. We are creating a special new outdoor patio area for patrons to enjoy the area before performances and during intermission. This patio also promises to be a new space at the Center to enhance events—private and public—further expanding Your LBC as the community’s gathering place.

Another feature coming soon and directly associated with the new outdoor area, will be ticket scanning. This will mean your tickets will be scanned as you enter for a performance and the patio offers you the outdoor experience you previously had outside the doors in the parking lots. We look forward to providing a safer, more secure and easy experience for you at LBC.

We appreciate your ongoing understanding and patience during the construction as we work to improve Your LBC!

We will continue to update you by emails, on our website and social media as all this evolves.

What’s new in the lobby and what to expect soon

March 2018

We know you see signs of the ongoing renovation work at Your LBC. We expect it all to be completed later this spring, but now, we are happy to report that new men’s and women’s restrooms on the second floor, house left have been opened. We hope this alleviates lines and congestion on the first floor lobby pre-show and during intermission. Also, the remodeled Fireside Room is completed—it looks beautiful, including new artwork on display.

We appreciate your understanding as the work continues in the lobby. The construction in process addresses accessibility and improves the patron experience in the main building, as well as providing some additional safety upgrades and major deferred maintenance needs. These changes will offer improved balcony and theater access and create opportunities for new gathering and concessions spaces, including on the balcony level.

What you will see when it’s all completed:

  • Two exterior elevator towers and glass vestibule hallways to provide access to the balcony level
  • Two new ADA restrooms (one men’s and one women’s) on both the north and south sides of the second floor, as well as ADA upgrades to the existing balcony restrooms
  • Two built-in and ADA-compliant concession areas on the ground floor level, along with construction of a new South balcony concession area
  • A remodeled Fireside Room
  • 1st and 2nd floor sprinklers in the Lytton Rancheria Grand Lobby
  • New dual-paned windows and doors in the main building
  • New roof, sight screens, and paint for the entire building

In June 2017 we began the second phase of Luther Burbank Center for the Arts “Bridge to the Future” renovation project. This lobby component compliments the first phase of “Bridge”—upgrades to the 1600-seat Ruth Finley Person Theater completed in 2013 — and is the next stage of the Center’s major renovation of the 43-year old building. All of the work you see going on fulfills our commitment to offer you an excellent experience as you enjoy outstanding programming right here in your community. We strive to be Your LBC—the premiere arts entertainment venue in Sonoma County.

While the main theater building did not sustain any damage during the October fires, that event did push back the timing of the renovation work as we diverted efforts for clean-up on campus and getting the entire Center back up and running. We are now back on track to unveil the new improved LBC later this spring.

Please excuse the appearance of the lobby while the rest of the work continues—we always want to look our best for you and appreciate your understanding while we get there. We assure you it will be worth the wait!
