Directly Support Children, Teachers, and Families in Our Community
The LBC Arts and Education Fund allows donors to know their gift is going directly to support children, teachers, and families in our community. Providing vital, ongoing support for education and engagement programs that take place throughout our community and serving more than 50,000 students, and their teachers and parents, each year.
The LBC’s programs are both unique and highly effective, not only teaching about the arts (music, theater, dance, and visual art) but we also working with educators to integrate the arts with core subjects such as math, science, and literature to enhance teaching and learning strategies—and being a catalyst for increased comprehension, retention and overall academic success.
THE LBC ARTS & EDUCATION FUND SUPPORTS ALL OF THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMS:

School Shows
Performances for school groups bring the magic of live theater to students. These performances align with and support state mandated curriculum in all core subjects. Specially designed study guides help broaden and deepen the learning experience.
Visual Arts Camp
A free 3-week visual arts camp provided to 50 underserved youth. Students are introduced to the theory and practice of painting and drawing through observation, discussion and experimentation.
Artists in Schools
Placing teaching artists in local classrooms for in-depth arts instruction, these individually-tailored residencies incorporate hands-on arts experiences with the teaching of school subjects to improve comprehension, develop self-esteem and improve test scores.
Mariachi
Introducing music concepts, teamwork, and the Mariachi tradition. Each student is provided with a free instrument that they learn to play and care for, while they explore and become proficient in this vibrant art form.
From Page to Stage: Reading Initiative
Underserved 3rd grade students are introduced to the wonders of literature, improving their comprehension through free support materials and attendance at a relevant School Show.
Let’s Be Creative with LBC
This free virtual arts education program includes videos of live dance classes, instrument care tutorials, visual art projects, music challenges, read-alongs, and literature-based lessons, and more!
Music for Schools
A lending library of instruments that are provided at no cost to students who otherwise might not have an opportunity to play. First priority is given to students who meet low-income guidelines.
Fiesta de Independencia
A free annual cross-cultural event that celebrates Latino Heritage Month. The campus-wide fiesta features over four hours of continuous arts and cultural entertainment, and attracts nearly 4,000 visitors each year.
Professional Development: Arts Integration Tools for Teachers
Arts integration workshops, held at the Sonoma County Office of Education, help teachers incorporate the arts into their classrooms as powerful tools for teaching all subjects.
Evert Person’s ArtReach
Free and reduced-price tickets to our School Shows for students who meet low-income guidelines and their teachers.
The Evert Person Bus Fund
Grants for student transportation to the theater, as the cost of a school bus often makes it too expensive for schools to attend.
Posada Navideña
A traditional Mexican holiday presentation that portrays the “Pastorela” (pilgrimage) made by Joseph and Mary before the birth of Christ. Featuring traditional Mexican folkloric dances and music performed by Calidanza Dance Company.
