Santa Rosa, CA (July 27, 2012)—The mid-year report is in from Pollstar Magazine and Luther Burbank Center for the Arts has, once again, been named among the top 100 theaters in the world. The community owned and operated, non-profit arts center received a worldwide ranking of #75. For theaters with fewer than 2,000 seats, the Center was ranked #11 in the United States. These numbers are up from the last reporting period when the Center ranked 89th and 14th respectively at year-end 2011. Pollstar is the only trade magazine covering the worldwide concert industry. Its rankings are based on tickets sold for performances.
Some of the many outstanding performances that occurred during the first half of 2012 include Good Vs Evil: An Evening with Anthony Bourdain and Eric Ripert, Lily Tomlin, Jack Hanna’s “Into the Wild Live,” and Glen Campbell.
Luther Burbank Center for the Arts is celebrating its 31st season of bringing world-class performances to Sonoma County. Founded in 1981 by 12 community leaders, the non-profit Center presents music, dance, theater, comedy, family programming and renowned speaker events. The Center first reported its ticket sales to Pollstar for ranking in 2002 and has been consistently named among the top 100 theaters in the world since 2005.
