Art of Dessert Returns Live!

When cake is served, every bite elevates the arts in Sonoma County

What do you get when you assemble a confetti of 30 eye-popping, jaw-dropping, artistically-detailed cakes, surround them with 300 confection-craving arts enthusiasts, and announce that every bite elevates the arts in their beloved community? Our annual Art of Dessert, of course! And why is there such a mad dash to consume every crumb of confection before the live auction and entertainment ends? Because every sweet tooth in the room knows the spotlight on the arts would dim across Sonoma County schools, homes, and stages if Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (LBC) failed to create and deliver arts and education programs.

LBC brings world-class live performances to Sonoma County’s back yard because we believe in the power of live performance to invigorate and elevate a community. Because too many people in the North Bay do not have access to the Arts, however, we created a philanthropic mission to raise the funds that will ensure we can enrich, educate and entertain neighbors, students, and families who might not have access otherwise. Art of Dessert, LBC’s annual fundraiser, is an important part of that mission.

Thanks to your generosity, Art of Dessert has raised more than $4.5 million over the years to help support your community’s home for the arts. You have helped us provide enrichment in the arts to more than 50,000 students in local schools every year. This year, we hope to exceed expectations.

Art of Dessert 2022

Art of Dessert takes place at our Santa Rosa campus on April 9, when art lovers, activists, and devotees come to celebrate with artists, educators, parents, business leaders, and anyone who believes that arts education makes our community a more welcoming place to live. Through their participation, LBC aims to raise $525,000 to support our Education and Community Engagement programs.

As part of the Art of Dessert celebration, an online auction during the week prior to the event will invite the public to bid on unique wine, travel, and culinary experiences, ranging in value from $50 to tens of thousands. The “thrill of dessert” will really take off in mid-March with the LBC Bake Off: A Community Baking Challenge.

Art of Dessert 2022 will include a cocktail hour, music, and raffle, followed by an elegant sit-down dinner and the wines of Rodney Strong, LBC’s wine sponsor. With State Senator Mike McGuire as our emcee, Bellevue Elementary School ukulele musicians will perform, and a spirited live auction will be facilitated by the incomparable Kenn Cunningham. Expect exclusive wine, entertainment, travel and culinary experiences among the select auction items. Of course, you can also expect dessert by the generous local bakeries donating the many delicious cakes on display that evening.

The LBC Bake Off invites the community to join in on the excitement of Art of Dessert by entering the at-home baking competition and showcasing your talents on social media. The two-week campaign runs from March 16 to March 30. To get in on the fun, be sure to follow @lutherburbankcenter on Facebook and @lbcsoco on Instagram.

Donors and past attendees will receive their Art of Dessert invitations in March. Tickets will be available to the public later in the month at Lutherburbankcenter.org and by phone at 707.800.7515. Look for details for all three events on lutherburbankcenter.org, on our Facebook and Instagram channels, and by signing up for our email newsletter on the website.
